Wall Haus Product Fire Ratings
The safety and compliance of our products are paramount. All our wall panels are tested in accordance with Australian standards to determine their fire hazard properties. In Australia, wall lining materials are given a "Group Number" rating, which indicates how quickly they contribute to the spread of fire. A lower Group Number signifies a higher level of fire resistance.
Fontus Crystal Range (Solid Core Panels)
Our premium Fontus Crystal range has been tested and certified with the highest possible rating for this type of product.
- Group Number: 1 (In accordance with AS 5637.1:2015)
A Group 1 rating signifies the best performance, making these panels suitable for use in a wide range of applications in both residential and commercial buildings where the highest level of fire safety is required for wall and ceiling linings.
Fontus Spritz Range (PVC Panels)
Our versatile Fontus Spritz range has been tested and certified as suitable for use in residential applications.
- Group Number: 2 (In accordance with AS 5637.1:2015)
A Group 2 rating indicates a good level of fire resistance, suitable for the walls and ceilings of most areas in residential homes, including bathrooms, laundries, and kitchens.
A Note on Transparency: You may see similar PVC panels on the market with different ratings. Fire testing standards and methods evolve over time. At Wall Haus, we believe in providing the most current and transparent information to our customers. We have based our official ratings on the latest certifications provided by our direct suppliers to ensure you can make a fully informed decision for your project.

Durability is key to a long-lasting, beautiful bathroom. Our panels are designed to withstand the demands of everyday life. Impact resistance testing measures a product's ability to resist damage from both hard, sharp knocks and softer, larger impacts.
Fontus Crystal Range (Solid Core Panels)
Our premium Fontus Crystal range has been independently tested in Australia and is certified to meet the stringent impact resistance requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC).
- NCC Compliant: Passes both Soft Body and Hard Body impact tests. (In accordance with NCC Volume One, C1.8)
This certification means the Crystal range is exceptionally robust and suitable for high-traffic areas. It demonstrates a superior resistance to cracking, denting, and breakage from the kinds of impacts that can occur in a busy family home, giving you the highest level of durability and peace of mind.
Fontus Spritz Range (PVC Panels)
Our Fontus Spritz range is a durable and lightweight panel suitable for residential wet areas. The hollow-core construction is designed to be easy to handle and install while providing good resistance to everyday bumps.
While formal NCC impact testing is not available for this range, our suppliers' technical data indicates that the panels pass a 5-joule impact test, demonstrating their resilience against common, low-level impacts. This makes them a reliable and fit-for-purpose choice for standard domestic bathroom, laundry, and kitchen applications.
Wall Haus Product Environmental Ratings
Indoor air quality is an important consideration for any home rejuvenation project. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are emissions that can be released from building materials. Products with low VOC emissions contribute to a healthier indoor environment for you and your family.
Fontus Crystal Range (Solid Core Panels)
Our premium Fontus Crystal range has been independently tested for VOC emissions and is certified as a low-emission product.
- Low VOC Certified: Exceeds the requirements for the Green Building Council of Australia's Green Star program. (Tested in accordance with ASTM D5116-2017)
This certification demonstrates that our Crystal panels release negligible levels of VOCs and Formaldehyde, making them an excellent choice for creating a healthy, breathable, and safe indoor environment. This is our recommended product for customers with sensitivities or those seeking the highest standard in air quality.
Fontus Spritz Range (PVC Panels)
Our Fontus Spritz range is manufactured from stable PVC (polyvinyl chloride). In its solid, finished form as a wall panel, it is an inert material.
While formal low-VOC certification is not available for this range, the panels are a long-established and widely used material for residential wet areas around the world. We recommend ensuring adequate ventilation during and after installation, which is standard best practice for any rejuvenation project.
Waterproofing

The Fontus range of wall panels are specifically designed for use in wet areas, providing a durable, grout-free, and easy-to-clean surface. A key feature of our entire Fontus range is that the panels themselves are 100% waterproof.
Understanding Waterproofing and the National Construction Code (NCC)
While the panels are completely waterproof, it is important to understand their role within the overall waterproofing system of your bathroom, laundry, or kitchen.Â
Under the National Construction Code (NCC), specifically Part 10.2, products like our wall panels are classified as water-resistant internal linings. They are not a substitute for the dedicated waterproof membrane required behind the panels. Think of it in two layers:
Waterproofing System: This is a continuous waterproof barrier that is applied to the substrate (the wall structure itself) in your wet areas. Its job is to protect the building structure from any water that might get behind the wall lining. This is the primary, critical waterproofing layer.
Water-Resistant Lining: This is the visible, finished surface, such as tiles or our Fontus panels. This layer provides the aesthetic finish and a primary barrier against splashes and steam. While our panels are impervious to water, the NCC requires the underlying waterproof system to be in place to ensure full compliance and protection.
In summary, you can be confident that your Fontus panels will not be damaged by water, will not swell or warp, and will provide a beautiful, long-lasting surface for your wet areas. However, they must be installed over a substrate that has been waterproofed in accordance with the NCC to ensure the integrity of your building structure.

The Crystal Range panels are constructed with a technologically advanced Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) core. This rigid core is composed of natural limestone powder and stabilisers, providing exceptional dimensional stability and impact resistance. The core is finished with a high-quality, decorative waterproof layer and a protective UV coating for enhanced durability and wear resistance.

8.0Â Â Â Â Fire & Temperature Rating
Fire Rating: Achieves a Group 1 fire classification in accordance with AS 5637.1:2015, making it suitable for use in a wide range of commercial and residential applications under the National Construction Code (NCC).
Temperature Resistance: Suitable for use in environments with surface temperatures up to 60°C.

The Crystal Range is fully compliant with the impact resistance requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC) Volume One, C1.8. The panels have been independently tested and passed both:

Certified for low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions in accordance with ASTM D5116-2017. The Crystal Range meets the stringent indoor air quality requirements for Green Star building projects in Australia.

11.0 Waterproof Rating
The panels are 100% waterproof and provide a fully sealed, hygienic surface when installed correctly according to our guidelines.

13.0 Â Â Â Â Maintenance & Care
The non-porous surface of Crystal Range panels is hygienic and easy to maintain. For regular cleaning, use a soft cloth with warm water and a non-abrasive, mild detergent. Do not use scouring powders, abrasive cleaners, or harsh chemicals such as bleach, as these may damage the decorative surface and this damage is not covered by warranty.

By being installed over the top of existing wall linings this has two major benefits for you:
- it speeds up the overall project time enormously, bringing you Walls that Wow much faster than other traditional types of renovation- which can take up to many weeks for a bathroom.
- it significantly reduces the cost of getting the new look and feel you want for your rooms.
The typical supply and install customer journey takes approximately 2 to 3 weeks to complete from initial enquiry to enjoying your new Wall that Wow.
